APPLICATIONS FOR 2025 ARE OPEN!
Festival accreditation is given to media on assignment – freelance journalists/photographers must email [email protected] on the date of applying with a letter to their submission signed by their Editor/Client confirming their status as a supplier to that media organisation and the stories they will be sourcing.
While all accreditation requests will be considered, the WOMAD communications team reserves the right to deny accreditation requests.
Please note successful applicants are dependent on pre-festival publicity.
All media wishing to attend and cover the WOMAD festival for health, safety, and insurance reasons must fill out an application.
No media applications will be approved on-site.
APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2025 POETRY SLAM OPEN NOW!
Our slam is a competition of poetry as performance, a celebration of beats, verse, quips and rhythms, that take poems from the page to the stage.
Hosted by Penny Ashton as part of the World of Words programme, the WOMAD Poetry Slam 2025 will showcase performance poets, putting them in the spotlight on the World of Words Stage, Kunming Garden.
SUBMISSION CRITERIA
– You must have a poem of 3 minutes or less to submit via video.
– Your poem must be an original piece.
-You must own the rights to use all music & images in your submission video.
THE SLAM SCHEDULE
Saturday, March 15
The contestants will deliver their original spoken words in the hope of being crowned the WOMAD Slam Champ. WOMAD audience response plays an essential role in the judges’ scoring – so get along and cheer on this poetic fiesta.
Up for grabs are two three day VIP WOMAD 2026 tickets!
Poets will be judged on:
– Execution
– Content
– Audience response
Sunday, March 16
The WOMAD Slam Champ will perform their winning piece, followed by a slam session from our world-renowned judges and seasoned slammers.

Ever wondered what it’s like behind the scenes a WOMAD? Now is your chance to find out! Volunteer applications are NOW OPEN for fresh faces. Whether you want to be stage runner, traffic guru, or a zero-waste legend, there’s a role for you! Join the team of 400+ volunteers who help make the magic happen.
WOMAD is a festival for everybody! We offer a range of accessible features to ensure as many people as possible are able to enjoy the event.
We would love to accommodate everyone, but there are only a limited number of Accessible Parking spaces available. If you are approved, we will notify you by 3rd March.
INFORMATION
There are two designated accessible parking areas Kaimata St and Racecourse.
Kaimata St (Gate C)
This is the only flat-level entry to the festival site.
The Parking Crew will assist you in parking and there is a gazebo with seating.
The golf buggy will pick up and drop off at the WOMAD Information Centre .
Racecourse (via Gate B)
This is accessed through Gate B: via Coronation Avenue. Follow the signs, there is a golf buggy pick-up and drop-off area at the top of the Racecourse track. The golf buggy will pick up and drop off at the WOMAD Information Centre
