Professor Rochelle Constantine of the University of Auckland – Waipapa Taumata Rau, is a leading expert in Marine Ecology and Conservation Biology. Growing up in Pāpāmoa, she developed a lifelong connection to the ocean, which has fueled her research on whales, dolphins, seabirds, and sharks. Rochelle leads international and Aotearoa-based conservation programs, uniting communities to protect vulnerable marine species. Known for her engaging and impactful approach, she isn’t afraid to use the magnetism of whales to spotlight crucial ocean issues. A 2018 recipient of the BLAKE Environmental Leadership Award, Rochelle was also honored with an ONZM in 2023 for her work.
