For more than 20 years, Penny Ashton has charmed audiences across the globe, from the magic of Glastonbury Festival to the energy of Edinburgh and even Mosgiel. The award-winning creator of Promise and Promiscuity, Olive Copperbottom, and The Tempestuous, Penny’s literary-inspired musical comedies leave fans laughing and applauding for more. In 2024, her Sense and Sensibility adaptation sold out Circa Theatre. A voice-over artist, improviser, and social commentator, Penny is known for her infectious humor and vibrant performances. As a judge at WOMAD’s Poetry Slam, she’ll wield her sharp wit and insight to make this poetic face-off unforgettable! 

Born in lockdown and thrusting menopause into the podlight, Penny Ashton’s Showy Ovaries filled a gap in the knowledge of women everywhere and was part of a new wave of information propelled by women passionate about educating us about what the hell is happening to our hormones! Interviews with everyone from Robyn Malcom to Jane Caro to Tusiata Avia, illuminated Penny and her listeners on their endochronification.  Now with 25 000 downloads below her belt, Penny is switching it up to interview all ages of women and trans individuals about their fleshy bone bags.  Penny and guest Morgana O’Reilly will take to the World of Words stage for a lively and unfiltered live episode.
