LEAH DODD

World of Words/Poetry Slam

PERFORMANCES

By day, Leah Dodd is a public servant; by night, she’s a poet crafting worlds with her words. Her debut collection, Past Lives, was shortlisted for the 2023 NZ Listener’s Best Books—an honour that barely scratches the surface of her literary achievements. Originally from Taranaki and now rooted in Wellington, Leah is the proud recipient of the 2021 Biggs Family Prize in Poetry, and she holds a master’s degree in creative writing from the International Institute of Modern Letters. Her work has graced stages at the Verb Festival, the Australian National Young Writers’ Festival, and the Red Dirt Poetry Festival. When she’s not performing her poetic magic, Leah curates a semi-regular reading series at the legendary Pegasus Books, where words (and inspiration) flow freely. You can also find her work in literary journals and outlets across Aotearoa, cementing her place in the vibrant landscape of contemporary poetry.
