PERFORMANCES

Dr. Greg Holwell is an Associate Professor at Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland, where he teaches zoology, behavioural ecology, and entomology. Growing up in the Australian bush, Greg developed a lifelong connection to the natural world. Initially studying kangaroos and platypus, his fascination soon shifted to the wonders of insects and invertebrates. His research spans creatures like praying mantises, giraffe weevils, cave wētā and Aotearoa’s spectacular moths. In Aotearoa, Greg shares his passion for Te Aitanga Pepeke with his whanau, advocating for a deeper appreciation of nature’s smallest wonders. Delighted to be at WOMAD 2025, he’s eager to inspire new connections with nature.
